Alla Khaniashvili graduated from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. She joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 1980 as a principal dancer, dancing in Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle, and Spartacus among others. In 1981 she won the Gold Medal at the Moscow International Ballet Competition, a Gold Medal in the Moscow all Union competition, and a Silver medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition. Khaniashvili has performed as a guest artist with many internationally known ballet companies including The New York City Ballet, Ballet Stars of Moscow and the Moscow Classical Ballet at the Grand Opera in Paris, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Covent Garden in London and in Japan.
